Description

Stock #7022 This rear-drive, tenth-generation Crown Athlete V is fitted with an incredible turbocharged straight-six and one of the nicest cabin designs we've seen in recent memory. Exterior Overview For those who enjoy power, refinement, and quality, this Crown Athlete V is for you! This rear-drive, tenth-generation model is fitted with an incredible turbocharged straight-six powerplant and one of the nicest cabin designs we’ve seen in recent memory. Finished in a classic Millennium Silver (1C0), the paint on this 1999 is in good shape aside from some minor dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Offered with only 87k verified and documented miles on the clock, this saloon is barely broken in. Ideal as a luxurious daily driver, wicked weekend playtoy, or clean slate for a VIP build, this Japanese Classic should fit the bill, and was one of the greatest Toyota products of the turn of the century! Interior Overview The cabin is clean, spacious, and nicely optioned. The dashboard is in great shape and lacks any cracking, fading, or distortion. Dual SRS airbags are standard, and the center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The audio is simple to operate, and sounds crisp and clear. Above, the climate control blasts cold A/C and piping hot heat. There is a tiny bit of pixelation on the screen, but nothing that affects usage. One of the coolest features of the Crown is the oscillating center climate vents. They distribute airflow around the cabin, and if you prefer more natural ventilation, power windows unfurl with the press of a button. To make daily driving more manageable, the driver benefits from a tilt and telescoping steering column, an electric seat, and the power folding and heated side mirrors and electric locks work in typical Toyota fashion. The seats are upholstered in a soft gray cloth. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are in above-average shape. The door cards, headliner, and carpets have all withstood the past twenty-five years without sustaining major abuse, and as a whole, it’s hard to nitpick the cabin aside from a noisy blend door and a non-functioning height adjustment on the power driver’s seat bottom. On the positive side, the owners’ manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase. Mechanical Overview The 1JZ-GTE under the hood is a true performer. It’s punchy, refined, has tons of aftermarket support and is easy to maintain. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.5L springs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter, spark plugs, wires, and coil pack connectors were installed as part of our tune-up, and the 1J runs right as rain. To keep the oil level full, one of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gaskets with new ones. The six is linked to an automatic gearbox that makes good use of the power and shifts like a champ. A fresh fluid service will surely keep things that way! Torque is sent to the rear pumpkin, and this big body sails up to highway speeds quickly and sounds great doing it! If you need to slow down in a jiffy, ABS is standard, and this Crown benefits from new front brake rotors and pads. The power steering is light and easy to articulate, and the suspension is smooth and handles large and small road imperfections with the best of them. For state inspection, we replaced the left upper control arm and the lower front left control arm bushings. Freshly aligned, the Toyota tracks straight as an arrow and grip is handled by four new tires. This long wheelbase sports saloon would make for a dependable daily or high-speed interstate hauler. Fresh from the motherland, it only needs an enthusiastic next owner! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
