Description

Stock #7017 Collectible, cool, and capable, this body on frame beast is the stuff legends are made of! Exterior Overview Typically when referring to trucks, the phrase “take a lickin and keep on tickin” indicates that the vehicle can stand up to long term daily use and abuse. For the Toyota Hilux, this actually means these trucks can survive getting dropped out of helicopters, trudged through waist-deep water, and rolled a time or two. Don’t believe us? Just watch the extraordinary press coverage these vehicles have gotten. For the enthusiast who wants all the grit and style of a classic Hilux with a more modern, domestically available powerplant, this 1999 pickup is the answer. Better yet, the 117k miles on the clock are verified and documented. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the Black over Lavender Steel (2DN) paint is in fine shape, and this Japanese Classic is adorned by custom LED headlamps, chrome 15″ Lodio Drive alloys, an optional OEM style bar, and OEM rainguards. We wanted to note that the front fender was previously replaced in Japan, which appeared to be no more than a surface level boo-boo. Collectible, cool, and capable, this body on frame beast is the stuff legends are made of! Interior Overview The exterior looks like it was built to endure battle, but the interior is surprisingly comfortable and composed. It even has an SRS airbag available to the driver, and a handful of useful power amenities, like cold A/C and hot heat to support seasonal cruising. While windows-down in a classic pickup is an ethereal experience, a touchscreen Eclipse headunit can dole out the tunes on command. The seats are upholstered in a durable, patterned cloth. We have little to nitpick about the condition overall, save for a few wear spots on the driver’s bolster. The dashboard is in equally good shape, and houses a few extra storage compartments for knick-knacks or literature. Power windows, locks, and mirrors work well to assist daily use, and a sliding rear window can help maximize natural airflow. A nifty factory toolkit is stowed behind the rear seatback, and factory carpet mats keep your upholstery free from excessive stains or holes. If the next owner can look past some typical wear to the driver’s door armrest, the condition of this pickup’s cabin should thoroughly impress most future occupants! Mechanical Overview Built atop a body on frame platform, a quick Google of the Hilux will tell you all you need to know about its ability to withstand abuse. The same can be said for the 3RZ-FE, which shares a bevy of parts with US models and is fresh off an oil and filter service here in the shop. It cranks over swiftly, and new spark plugs and wires assist ignition. The front main seal and oil pump were replaced to keep lubricant internal, and the four-banger runs right as rain. Power is fed through a stout automatic gearbox, and the selective transfercase allows the driver to choose between 2WD and 4WD on the fly. The transfercase has been improved with a new rear output seal for added peace of mind. For beach outings and trekking down some trails, a low range can also be engaged to keep momentum moving forward. It accelerates confidently enough to merge at highway speeds safely, and from stop light to stop light, this pickup feels peppy. To shore up the driveline, we installed new driver-side front and both rear axle seals, and performed a front and rear differential fluid service. To slow down, ABS brakes confidently reel in this quad cab, and new front brake pads and rotors were replaced to keep things that way. The suspension received a heavy refresh while here in our shop. One of our trained technicians replaced all of the shocks, front upper and lower ball joints, and front sway bar end links. The power steering is direct and on point, thanks to a new steering stabilizer, pitman arm, and idler arm. With a new driver’s side outer tie rod replaced, we aligned the platform, and it tracks straight as an arrow. The 15″ wheels are wrapped in new Falken rubber. The fresh all-terrains look killer, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come, as we’ve freshly aligned this rig! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first. CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K.
