Exterior Overview Toyota built the Land Cruiser to withstand torturous environments, abysmal terrain, and extreme road conditions. This Cygnus model features that bad-to-the-bone off-roading DNA, and was designed to deliver an additional heavy dose of refinement. Finished in a classic Toyota Black (202), this rig is set off by OEM rainguards, an OEM spoiler, privacy tint, and new 17″ ICON alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape, and this 4×4 is fresh off a recent service. Offered with a scant 98k verified and documented miles on the clock, this lovable Landy has logged a fraction of the use of most domestic examples. Luxurious, reliable, and capable, these full-size Japanese Classics can do it all. As a dedicated daily driver, all-star overlander, or weekend getaway vehicle, this terrific Toyota is up to the task! Interior Overview The cabin is expansive, ergonomic, and filled with electronic options that coddle those within. Upgrades include a power moonroof that retracts and tilts upward, adding some natural ventilation to the cabin. It also includes leather seats, which are in good shape aside from normal age-related wear. Both front occupants’ seats are powered and heated, and dual SRS front airbags are standard equipment. The driver benefits from an electric tilt-adjustable steering column, power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows and quarter glass; all of which work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily driving much more enjoyable. Cruise control makes those long highway slogs more bearable, and OEM HID lighting keeps the road illuminated late at night. The touchscreen infotainment screen includes all the digital climate controls. Rear occupants can enjoy their own dedicated zone and controls. The A/C blows cold, the heat is boiling hot, and they can be easily mixed to find the ideal cockpit temperature. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and the Pioneer audio sounds decent for a vehicle of this age. The door cards, carpets, and headliner are in good shape, and this cabin was clearly cared for in a prior life overseas. That’s not to say the cabin is perfect, as we wanted to note that the telescoping function of the steering column has given up the ghost. On the positive side, we have included a set of OEM mats for the buyer of this fine family hauler! Mechanical Overview Under the skin, this body-on-frame ruffian is one tough cookie. The same can be said for the venerable V8 powerplant. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L churns to life courtesy of a new 12V battery. A new fuel filter and engine air filter were installed as part of our tune-up. A new muffler keeps the V8 sounding strong, and the 2UZ-FE feels as hearty as a horse. It’s mated to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts properly, and feeds torque through a full-time 4WD system. For beach trips and muddy trail runs, a center locker is on hand, as is a low-range 4WD setting. It is a comfortable highway cruiser, and we have refreshed the suspension heavily so that it rides like a dream. First off, we installed a brand new Eibach lift kit. We then added new rear Panhard bar bushings, new rear upper and lower control arms, and new front lower ball joints. A fresh alignment keeps this J100 tracking straight as an arrow, and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. Lastly, we mounted and balanced four new 34″ Toyo tires. Freshly aligned, the new rubber quells road noises, looks mean, and provides all the grip required for tens of thousands of miles to come. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
