Description

Stock #6933 Life is about compromise, as the saying goes, and Toyota had that in mind when developing the J95 Prado. Large enough to transport up to eight people, and highly refined, this turbodiesel model sips fuel compared to V8 powered models. Exterior Overview Life is about compromise, as the saying goes, and Toyota had that in mind when developing the J95 Land Cruiser. Large enough to transport up to eight people, and highly refined, this turbodiesel model sips fuel compared to the heavier V8-powered models. This handsome truck is finished in a desirable Blue Mica Metallic (8N8). Set off by OEM rainguards and refinished six-spoke 16″ aftermarket wheels, the paint is in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this fabulous 4×4 is offered with a mere 129k verified and documented miles on the clock. S pacious and safe, this 2000 would make for a fun family hauler, cool weekend getaway car, or decent dedicated overlander. Reliable, easy to service, and practical, this Japanese Classic won’t let you down. Interior Overview This cabin is spacious, ergonomic, and filled with electric amenities. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard. Pilots of all sizes can find the ideal seating position thanks to a standard tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and electric windows all operate in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. Close by and within arm’s reach, the center stack includes a simple to use automatic climate control system. The A/C blows cool, and the heat pipes in hot, making for year-round cockpit comfort. Adjacent is an upgraded OEM head unit that sounds clear and crisp and is sufficiently loud to drown out the kids. The seats are in good shape and trimmed in a gray and blue cloth. The durable material is soft to the touch and lacks any major rips or tears. The middle row can tumble forward to accommodate more cargo, and head, shoulder, and leg room are plentiful. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards, and the carpets have withstood the past 25 years with no major damage aside from some light stains. We also wanted to note the rear seat cupholder cover is missing, but aside from that, it’s mighty hard to nitpick this cabin. It even includes the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets for the new American owner to enjoy. Mechanical Overview The body-on-frame platform is robust, and the same can be said for the directed-injected 1KD-FTV. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns over quickly courtesy of a new 12V battery. A new fuel filter was installed as soon as it got on the lift, and we also replaced the engine air filter. One of our trained technicians went about refreshing the powertrain first thing. A new valve cover gasket was installed, and we performed a fluid exchange on the transmission. This four-banger pulls hard to redline, and gear changes feel seamless. The surefooted FullTime 4WD system has a center locker and low range for the offroading die hards, but we realize most of our clients will keep these on the tarmac. If you need to reel this big bad girl in from higher speeds, disc brakes with ABS are standard, and we have swapped in new front brake pads and rotors for extra braking performance. It’s a comfortable highway cruiser with its long wheelbase, and we have enhanced the ride quality with new shocks front and rear. We didn’t stop there, as we also replaced the front lower ball joints, front sway bar links, and front lower control arms. It now rides like a dream and is ready for a nice, long road trip. We also rebuilt the power steering rack and replaced the rack bushings and boots. The fluid was flushed, and we then installed new inner and outer tie rods so we could dial in a proper alignment. Grip is handled by four new 31″ tires. The new rubber looks mean, quells road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
